Verindi Vekemans is a PhD candidate at the Faculty of Industrial Design Engineering, Department of Sustainable Design Engineering.

Her research is part of the European consortium, the NextSkins project, where they collaboratively develop regenerative living materials. In her PhD project, she focuses on understanding the living aesthetics of the NextSkins materials, aiming to explore how changes in their expressions are experienced by people.

She obtained her bachelor’s and master’s degrees in Industrial Design from Eindhoven University of Technology, where she researched and designed shape-changing interfaces and interactive materials.

This research and design with temporality are reflected in biodesign, where she is interested in how people experience the dynamic nature of living materials.
