Milou Voorwinden is a PhD candidate at the Faculty of Industrial Design Engineering. She first became interested in woven textile constructions during her bachelor's program in Product Design at ArtEZ University of the Arts.

After graduating in 2016, she gained experience as a textile designer and product developer, primarily working with industrial weaving looms. In 2019, she received the Talent Development grant from Creative Industries Fund NL, which allowed her to further explore methods for the three-dimensional weaving of products.

This experience further fueled her passion for research, leading her to collaborate with researchers and pursue a Master's in Design Research at the Piet Zwart Institute of Willem de Kooning Academy in Rotterdam.

Her current PhD research is in the field of textile design and seeks to rethink woven textile design methods and processes to support textile-form design and fabrication.
