Joana Martins is an Assistant Professor in the Biodesign field at the Faculty of Industrial Design Engineering (IDE), TU Delft. With a robust background in microbiology and biotechnology, her research leverages living microorganisms to develop novel materials.

Since 2022, Joana has been closely collaborating with design engineers to inform design practices, particularly through the exploration of cyanobacteria.
